SSD
SSD is an abbreviation for Solid State Drive and means a drive that uses semiconductor memory, such as NAND flash memory which is also used in USB flash memory.SSD contains no moving components as opposed to HDD.
Advantages of SSD:
- Fast Access (OS start-up time is 1.5 times as fast )
- Resistant to impact and vibration
- Low power consumption (approx. 20% lower than HDD)
- High Reliability (twice as long as HDD )
- Quiet during operation ( due to no moving parts it is very quiet i.e. 0db vs 25b in HDD )
